The aroma is warm and spicy and initially similar to eucalyptus. The middle notes are balsamic-woody and slightly sweet bordering on floral.Cardamom oil has been steam distilled since 1540 and is arguably the most aromatic of the "seed" oils. The main components of Cardamom are cineole, terpinylacetate, terpineol, borneol, and terpenes. In perfumes the oil is coveted for its spiciness, warmth, and sweetness. In addition it blends well with bergamot, olibanum, ylang-ylang, labdanum, woods and cilantro. Action: Cardamom is antispasmodic (neuro-muscular), antibacterial, an expectorant, and anti-infectious. Traditional Uses: Cardamom has been used for paralysis, reheumatism, cardiac disorder, epilepsy, spasms, pulmonary disease, digestive, intestinal, and urinary complaints. Indications: Indigestion, loss of appetite, coughs, debility, halitosis, mental fatigue, headaches, heartburn, nausea, and sciatica. Cardamom may also alleviate menstrual problems and irregularities. Application: Diffuse, rub on the bottom of the feet, the stomach, the solar plexus, and the thighs. Fragrant Influence: Cardamom is uplifting, refreshing, and invigorating. Safety Data: If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician. Companion Oils: Bergamot, cedarwood, cinnamon,cistus, clove, neroli, orange, rose, and ylang ylang.
