Action:  Cypress improves circulation and supports the nerves and intestines.  It is anti-infectious, antibacterial, antimicrobial, and strengthens blood capillaries.  It also acts as an insect repellent.

Traditional Uses:  Cypress is one of the oils most used for the circulatory system.


Indications:  Arthritis, bronchitis, circulation, cramps, hemorrhoids, insomnia, intestinal parasites, menopausal problems, menstrual pain, pancreas insufficiencies, pulmonary infections, rheumatism, spasms, tuberculosis, throat problems, varicose veins, and fluid retention.  Jean Valnet, MD, suggests that it may be helpful for some cancers.


Other Uses:  This oil may be beneficial for asthma, strengthening blood capillary walls, reducing cellulite, supporting the circulatory system, and strengthening connective tissue.  It may help with coughs, edema, improving energy, gallbladder ailments, bleeding gums, hemorrhaging, laryngitis, liver disorders, muscular cramps, nervous tension, nose bleeds, and ovarian cysts.  It is outstanding when used in skin care, lessening scar tissue.


Application:  Use topically with a massaging action toward the center of the body.  Apply where you would wear a deodorant.


Fragrant Influence:  Cypress helps ease the pain of loss.  It creates a feeling of security, grounding, and it helps heal emotional trauma.


Safety Data:  If pregnant or under a doctor's care, consult your physician.


Companion Oils:  Clary sage, bergamot, juniper, lavender, lemon, orange, and sandalwood.


Bible Reference:  Isaiah 44:14 - "He heweth him down cedars, and taketh and the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest:  he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it."
