Galangal Root Oil, Indonesia is also referred to as “false ginger”. Galangal root oil is steam distilled from the rhizome and is in fact related to true ginger and cardamom. It is not surprising then that Galangal blends well with these oils and shares similar notes. The aroma is clean and fresh, with camphor traces and penetrating spice and wood nuances. Not surprisingly there is also a cineole note because of the natural content of up to 30 percent of the chemical. Galangal primary constituent, however, is methyl cinnamate at close to 50 percent. Galangal also blends well with Eucalyptus since cineole is a component they have in common. Moroccan Chamomile, Dalmatian Sage, Cinnamon, Allspice, Lavandin, Pine Needle, Citrus, Rosemary, Myrtle, and Patchouli all blend well with Galangal.
